# 3.1.7 Create Surface Element

The **“Create Surface Element”** component allows creating surface elements from meshes. The options available in the drop-down list are:

* **“MToShell”**: Convert mesh to shell element.
* **“MToMembr”**: Convert mesh to membrane element.
