3.8.7 IFC Export/Import

The IFC Exporter enables users to export analytical and physical structural models into the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) format. In addition to the standard export inputs, it provides configurable options for selecting the IFC schema, exporting calculation results, including physical model elements, and mapping cross-section names between different software packages.

Inputs

In addition to the three standard inputs available for export components, the IFC exporter provides additional settings for configuring IFC file generation.

Project Info

The Project Info group contains metadata values that are written directly to the IFC file. These values define standard project information.

For further details, refer to the official IFC documentation.

Export Options

The Export Options input provides additional settings to control the IFC export process.

  • IFC Schema (Schema) Defines the IFC schema version used by the exporter. Currently, IFC 2x3 and IFC 4 are supported.

  • Include Results (Results) A Boolean flag that enables the export of calculation results. This option is available only when exporting a calculated model.

  • Physical Elements (Physical) A Boolean flag that enables the export of physical model elements. By default, the exporter writes only the analytical model. Enabling this option includes physical model elements, allowing the model to be displayed correctly in IFC viewers or imported into software that does not directly support analytical representations, such as Revit.

  • Cross Section Name Conversion (CroSecConv) Enables cross-software mapping of cross-section names. When a mapping is provided, the exporter automatically applies it during the export process.
